What I'm Loving

I am blogging when I should be doing homework (go me). This post is dedicated to 5 things that I am currently loving. These things will change periodically so I will probably do many posts like this. Here we go:

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer COMIC! Thats right, when the Spouse went to Comic-Con a few weeks ago he brought me home the first B.V.S. comic as a surprise. It was fantastic, so much so that I ordered the second book a week later. Thats right, I like Buffy the Vampire Slayer that much.

2. Batman and X-Men Cartoons! As I have mentioned previously, the Spouse and I have been watching some childhood favorite cartoons. X-Men and Batman make me feel like a kid again and I have loved it! I think that adults forget the magical sensation that cartoons provide. The stories are also killer good and we don't have to worry about seeing boobies or hearing swears. Yesterday as we were at the grocery store, we passed by a Pez Stand and we saw some X-Men and Batman Characters. So we purchased them and they are currently at our desk at work. Childish, I know but sometimes you just have to be spontaneous by purchasing Pez! This is a hilarious clip involving Batman.

3. Comfy Wedges! Wow, as I am reviewing my own list, I am understanding how random I really am! I feel like this favorite is more mature than my prior 2. As it is starting to warm up outside (with the past few days it doesn't seem to be) I have been dying to wear open toed shoes with pretty toenails showing. SO, I broke down and purchased these bad boys from Target.com. They are going to look so springy paired with some bright flowery toenails! I love that they are nude because it will go with anything. I love a good wedge because even though I am 5'9", I love to wear tall shoes (thanks Spouse for being tall!) but, stilettos can be uncomfortable and difficult to walk in (I teeder more than walk in them) but with wedges I can still get the height AND comfortably walk in them. WIN WIN!

4. Dora the Explorer Fruit Snacks! Wow, this post is seriously reflecting my immaturity but I swear I am a big girl. I first found these fruit snacks when I was babysitting my adorable niece, Izzy. We kicked back and shared a couple fruit snacks, unfortunately she ratted me out to her mother :) These Fruit Snacks are like none other. Those who are F.S. eaters will recognize that some fruit snack are kind of clear/transparent and some are opaque. Dora's are ALL opaque which makes them so delicous. I have been buying them every week for about a month now. Go me.

5. Closet Organization (as posted previously)! Here is a maturity redeeming favorite. This is a long time favorite for me. I really enjoy organizing and being tidy so my closet gets special care. I recently enjoyed transitioning my closet from Winter to Spring (even though it may have been a bit premature with this weather). Its so refreshing to go through each item of clothing and determine if it is worth keeping or not. I am very pleased because I have easily given up multiple pieces without second thought. Go me.

Happy Thursday!

Closet Organizing

This past weekend I had a chance to do some closet organization (which I love). Chad and Aj were playing video games so I spent some time in my room reorganizing my closet for Spring (this frustrated my pup though because she couldn't decide if she wanted to be with me in the bedroom or Chad and Aj in the living room, tough decision). I was rather astonished by the amount of belts that I have because I RARELY wear belts (rarely is capitalized to emphasize the rarity of my belt wearing). So, I did some quick scrambling and found the perfect fix, check it!

It feels so good to even look at these photos. Does anyone else get a high from organizing their closet?

Happy Tuesday!

Make Me Laugh Monday

Its Monday, we all need a little pick me up. This made me laugh a big belly laugh (sorry if anyone is offended).

The Spouse again showed me this one. Too funny!

Happy Monday!

Saturday Night Blogging

Really weird night but lots of good things happening this weekend. Yesterday, my amazing Spouse spoke at a Symposium at BYU (it was pretty fancy, I was so proud). So Aj and I went and watched him speak. Very impressive, all of Chad's hard work has been so beneficial. I really wanted to take more pictures but didn't want to make a scene (or more of a scene considering the asthma issues I was experiencing throughout the symposium, embarrassing). So here is one poor quality photo but one can see my Spouse's awesomeness.

Saturday afternoon I was able to grab a bite to eat with my older Sis. It is always so nice to see her. I was her little shadow all growing up and I wish I had more time in the day to "shadow" her now but school and work don't allow it. That is why I cherish every lunch or baking day we are able have. We went to Los Hermanos (she suggested it, I swear I didn't force it on her) which I was so happy about. I can't get enough of that Mexican Food these days!

There is nothing better than Diet Coke and Lime partnered with Mexican Food.
I also love their salsa! Not too spicy and the perfect consistency.
Beef Enchiladas.

As I mentioned a few days ago, my toes were in a major need of some good painting. Luckily, I had a chance to spruce them up a bit with this fantastic color. Sea-Foam Green, which makes me think of the 70's but it is great for Spring (if it would ever arrive!)

Happy Weekend, are you ready for Monday?

You Deserve a Cookie

My goodness, being sick takes is out of you! Seriously, I don't feel like doing anything but laying in bed (which my pup is serious fan of). Any who, last Saturday I made the most amazing cookies for Chad and I. They are chocolate cookies with a Rolo in the middle. This was also a recipe that I snagged from my sister dear (yes, we like to eat, so what?) Here are some pics:

I realize this picture is rather blurry but I wanted you to see the gooey caramel!

Again, this recipe is SO SO SO amazing! I love them warm but Chad prefers them cooled.

Happy Thursday! (I don't have work tomorrow, jealous)

Ugh

Not feeling sooooo good the last few days. I have unfortunately snagged a nasty cough and it is really getting the best of me. I need to get healthy again. I need to start working out again (being sick makes working out undesirable). I need to paint my toenails. I need to get caught up in school. I need to stop eating fast food.

I need to make it to summer.

Once I make it to summer I will be able to just focus on work and not worry about school. I am so very excited for that.

A real post is coming soon, I promise.

Happy (cough) Wednesday!

It's Hard to Say Goodbye

I have another post about shoes kids. I realize that you may think this is rather bizarre but I am a shoe fiend. I kid you not, even as a child, I loved shoes. I would take my Mom's heels when I was young and I would wear some of my winter boots and shove them into my Mom's heels so they would fit better (I was an odd duck, lets just say that). I would wear my Older Sister's old ballroom dance heels and cinch them super tight so they would fit better. I think that shoes say a lot about a person. Honestly, think about it! Also, if you have gained a little weight or feel frumpy, shoes will almost ALWAYS fit!

These are some of my ALL time favorite shoes. They were really cheap and are just fabric but they are so comfy and I love the color. Unfortunately, my love for them is starting to show.

They are a brighter purple color in person.
I even stitched them up when the sewing started to come undone!

It's strange because I have even bought other shoes to replace these but I just don't like them as much! I will continue to wear these until they are completely falling apart (more so than they are now). Unfortunately, I fear that time is drawing near and I am trying to prepare myself for when I have to toss them out. Until then, I will keep wearing you, perfect purple flats!

Happy Friday, have a great weekend!

Cupcakes for St. Patty's

Happy St. Patrick's day! I find this Holiday to be useless but rather fun and charming! My work did a potluck lunch today (of course I signed up for a desert). Last night I made cupcakes (I really love cupcakes) with green frosting. How festive! Here are some shots (image HEAVY) of my Baking experience:

I ran out of white paper cups so I had to use party themed cups as well. I did not love that. I prefer white!
Its rather sad because it was suppose to make 24 cupcakes but I ate so much batter that it BARELY made 23. Go me.
Cooling cupcakes. Gotta love my Brady Bunch oven. Booya 70's Mustard Yellow.
Green frosting to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It looks like it should be Mint flavored but its just classic Cream Cheese frosting (my FAVORITE).
My Pup wondering what the heck I am doing in the kitchen. That is her favorite perch when we are in the kitchen.
My Taste Tester
He approves!
As do I :)

Happy Thursday and St. Patrick's Day! (Its almost the weekend!)

Busy but Not Dead

Oy Vey! What a life I live. I know that sounds much more dramatic than it really is but its been a busy couple of months. School is kicking both my and the spouse's butts. We are feeling very exhausted and are just ready for summer. Last semester we had so much vigor, vim, and determination but where has it gone? We are trying to just make it through the last couple of weeks and it is proving difficult. HOWEVER, I am grateful to be able to get an education, so I should not complain...but I already did.

On a lighter note, check out my new kicks:

I got them from Gap for $16! They were originally $40 but I got them for such a bargain. Usually Gap shoes are not so comfortable but these are fantastic! They kind of form to my feet which is quite glorious in my eyes (and they look the right amount of Old Lady-ish). Also, they look pretty cool with the blue tights. I know, only Me and five year olds wear bright blue tights but sometimes you need some color (especially because my legs are pasty white, as always).

Happy Wednesday!

Hil

P.S. Who has two thumbs and kind of did their hair today? This moi! Its sad but I actually blow dried my hair (which is rare these days) and thought I should document it.

Blog-Worthy Dinner

I am back with a skip in my step today! Even though it was extremely hard to get up this morning because it was still dark outside. Daylight Savings has really thrown me off!

Last night, Chad and I had a fant-abulous supper. I will tell you that a Crock-Pot is a girls best friend when you and the spouse go to school and work full time. When we arrive home, it provides delicious smells, which makes me remember that dinner is pretty much prepared! Bless the person who invented Crock-Pots! Here are some photos depicting our delightful supper:

Soup in Crock-Pot
Best cheese on the PLANET. Can't ever go back to orange Cheddar Cheese!

AMAZING soup recipe I got from my Sister, Haley. So easy and SUPER yum.
Finished product. Just so you know, after this photo I covered my soup with an entire layer of cheese. I had to be realistic, "thats not that much cheese".

Happy Tuesday!

Oh Monday.

Bad case of the Mondays today folks. It was totally one of those days where I nor my pup wanted to get out of bed. I laid in bed for far too long which made my day start later than it should. Totally my own fault but I just felt so blah. Because I got out of bed late, I was late to work and in a rush which always puts my "panties in a bunch". I hate being late. Sorry to vomit my "Case of the Mondays" on you all but maybe admitting it may allow me to move on!

On a lighter note, I have a weird quirk about me. At least, I believe its weird. When I awoke today, I saw this...

I realized I am such a laundry freak. These are all clothes that are air drying after being washed in the washing machine. The dryer and I are kind of "Frenemies" aka friend-enemies. I take really good care of my clothes, again, because I am a weirdo who has worked years in retail. A dryer can change the color of your garment and ultimately the shape and size of your clothing. So, I pretty much only dry pajamas, towels, undies, and bedding. Because the spouse was gone when I did laundry last week, he came home from his trip with lots of dirty clothes that needed to be cleaned this week. Of course, I don't put his things in the dryer so we had a ridiculous amount of clothing hanging throughout our entire apartment. I am glad because I am ensuring the shape, color, and size of the clothing, however, it makes our apartment seem strangely humid (which I am pretty sure is all in my head but I get weired out by humidity so I assume that the damp clothing is causing it. I need help).

Realizing this got me thinking. Does anyone else do this? Does anybody else hang a majority of their clothing after washing them? If so, what methods of hanging do you find most helpful? Have you purchased a hanging rack or something? I have been considering purchasing one like this:

Please tell me what works best for you because I saw the absurdity of all the hanging clothing and thought that I needed to find a better method!

Happy Monday? (again, question mark necessary)

This Is Love

You know you are loved when your husband says that he bought you a surprise. And two days before the surprise arrives at our house, he can't contain his excitement and just tells you what it is. And its one of you fondest childhood memory "things" that I can think of:

Can I get a Hallelujah?! Its the first season of the X-Men Cartoon. You have NO idea how much this meant to me. I remember watching X-Men with my older brother (Eric) and sister (Haley). I recall thinking it was SO cool. One of the fondest memories I have is pretending to be the X-Men with my sister. She ALWAYS claimed Storm as her character and I had to be Rogue (my other choices were Jubilee (lame) or Jean (boring)). Neither of them could fly.

When the spouse told me my surprise, I felt this emotion:

I was beyond thrilled, what an extremely thoughtful gift. I love my spouse so very much. So, with my new gift arriving yesterday, we have almost completed the first season. Granted each episode is only 20 minutes but we totally watched a couple hours of the show last night. It was wonderful! When I heard the intro song, I got chills and couldn't stop smiling! I felt like a kid again with my helmet haircut and chicklet teeth. By the way, Rogue is by far the coolest, I would happily pretend to be her any day!

Something that probably doesn't excite you much is this:
I am wearing open toed shoes. Those who are familiar with Utah weather are well aware that open toed shoes in early March are a very big risk. But how about this weather?! Its been beautiful outside I just couldn't resist. Also, I painted my toenails and hate it when I can't show them off!

On a random note, consider this. I laughed so hard when I saw it. Dear sweet spouse shared this one with me. What do you think?

Happy Friday! (Best day of the week)
