I Need A Vacation

Super lame, I was outside for an hour today and I got sunburned. The worst part was that I didn't know we were going outside for that long so I couldn't take my usual precautions, like saying no. Oh well, I suppose I could use the vitamin D.

I am feeling very worn out as of late. I feel like the last 3 months we have been going and going and going. We switched jobs which was crazy stressful, we found out we were expecting which is exciting but rather stressful as well, and our little pup has been experiencing some unexpected health issues (which are getting better). I desperately need a vacation but sadly, don't get to use PTO for another few MONTHS. That's right, months. Which is seeming like a painfully long time. Also, we aren't really able to get away for the weekend because we work Saturdays. We don't have two days off in a row.

I don't really know what to do. I don't need to go out of state or do something horribly extravagant but Chad and I just need to get away from it all. I thought about camping just the two of us but then my friend reminded me how often I have to get up and potty in the middle of the night. That quickly changed my mind.

On a lighter note, here is a shoe of the day! A charming pair of shoes indeed. Though they are charming, they are horribly tight and uncomfortable. Three words, suffer for fashion.

Happy Thursday!

Air Conditioning is the Best

(12 weeks.)

I read somewhere that most women don't start show until 16 weeks. Lies. The above image almost startled me, in fact, I questioned if I should post it or not. I was wearing a fitted dress and I could see a little pooch. Granted, part of that pooch is my own doing but it looks more prominent to me. I am going to say that I am showing a little because it makes me feel better.

We all know that the heat and I are not best friends. Not even frenemies. Because my mother-in-law loves us (even more so, now that I am expecting) she went out of her way to provide us with a "cooler" way of living. Thank you Glenna! I told her I would grow the best grandchild ever because of her kindness.

The spouse and I live in an apartment that is on the bottom and is semi below ground (but not completely). This actually makes our apartment stay a little cooler a little longer. However, come July and August (the months where I contemplate the worth of living on such a hot planet) it is just too hard to bare. We were able to make it last year with fans but this year, I refused. I already don't feel too great and the heat will only make it worse.

Plus, I am like an oven! I walked into my apartment the other night where my husband and 2 brother-in-laws were playing video games. It was scorching. I asked if they were hot and they said "not really". Then I look at Aj and he is wearing a SWEATSHIRT and was rather comfortable. I felt slightly crazy but I was so warm.

Now, we have AIR CONDITIONING! We have two little window units, one in the front room and one in the bedroom. Its amazing how big of a difference it makes. Remarkable. At night we close our bedroom door while the AC is on and we wake up even a little chilly! Bless the soul who invented air conditioning, seriously, bless them!

We have made some fun and exciting changes in the apartment, I have been in this nesting mood like crazy. Pictures to come!

Happy Monday!

Oh Hey.

Yesterday morning at about 9:30, I was rummaging through my purse and found a sucker (which I love, but only tootsie pops). I was thrilled to find such a little treasure floating around in there. Now, most people would say "Awesome, I will save this for after lunch" I, however, removed the wrapper right then and there and stuck it in my mouth. It was delightful!

Today, we are going to Ikea to get a wardrobe. As I mentioned in my To Do Before Baby list, this is one thing we are wanting to do so that Chad has somewhere to put his clothes when baby arrives. Because, sadly, he cannot fit in the Closet I am using... This may seem slightly premature because I am only about 12 weeks, however, I am doing it anyways. I am hoping to not spend too much while we're there. I also need a couple of shelves and curtains but should probably wait on those. We'll see :)

I have been hankering to shop lately. More so than normal, however each time I go online to look at some of my favorite stores, I get the rude reminder (from my brain) that my waist band will not be able to fit in those styles soon. And I don't want to shop maternity clothes because my goal is to utilize my closet until I am just too big and have to by some maternity BASICS. I really don't want to have a whole maternity wardrobe because it is expensive and I only wear them for a few months. No thank you. We'll see.

Happy Saturday!

The Chains from my Dreams

Sleeping has been tough because my poor pup is still experiencing some major tummy discomfort. I think she may have acid reflex because she throws up bile in the middle of the night. Which keeps me awake because I worry. I suppose she is preparing me for ye old "mommy-hood". We are still working on getting her back to her 100% self. While I was laying awake in bed petting my little terrier (while she lay on a towel) I was thinking of some of the psychedelic movies I watched when I was little. There was the Black Crystal with the long legged bunny creatures or The Labyrinth with David Bowie (enough said, awesome) but one really stood out in my mind.

This movie is one that I swear no one else has seen. For the longest time, I thought I dreamed it because no one had heard of it. However, I now have proof that it was actually made. It was called Return To Oz which was made back in 1985 and was absolutely bizarre. The plot is basically this; a little girl is considered crazy by her parents because she talks about this other land that she has seen in her dreams (I believe) and she at one point actually goes back to the city of Oz which is in complete shambles. There is a Witch who removes her head and puts on different ones. Those are really some of the main things I remember. Here are some images.

(I recall the Moose head eventually pulls a sleigh)
(A new version of the tin man. Also the little girl has a hen instead of a dog (Todo))
(This part was the most terrifying, those are grown men with wheels for hands and feet. They are like the flying monkeys)
(Picture of the Wheelers. Scary, right?)
(The Witch. She was pretty insane)

I don't actually remember what happens at the end but I also don't recall having the fondest feelings for this film. I think overall it was just unsettling and rather stressful for a young child. Have you seen this movie? Are there psychedelic movies from your childhood that you still feel uneasy about?

Happy Friday!

Too Hot

Its getting warm out, too warm. I feel bad about not writing however, I am going to step over that so I don't have to explain why because there is no real reason. Pregnancy has made me not like doing certain things that I used to love. Like laundry, I would look forward to folding the laundry however lately, Chad and I have been living out of our laundry basket. Same thing with blogging. Its almost like I have nothing to say which we all know is not true :)

Being pregnant makes you think about a lot of things. Like, what will this kid look like? Will it be a boy or girl? Will the pup like the new family member? Will the baby be sassy like mama or fun and happy like papa? You may be nauseated by all of this but its obviously on my brain. Another fun thing is hearing baby names. Though Chad and I have always had names that we really like, its interesting to hear other baby names. I saw a baby whose name was Ruari which made my tongue hurt just thinking about it and I am usually a fan of different names. I think we will wait to tell everyone what we will be naming our baby, not to be a tease but I don't want anyone's opinion to sway me from choosing my child's name.

I am so thrilled, the spouse and I agree though that it takes too long for the baby to be done growing and come out of the womb. I don't like the unknown so waiting to find out the gender is torture. Though it takes a while, it does allow us to prepare because we all know that I don't do well with "spring of the moment" things happening. Chad got our kitchen sink fixed yesterday (which was SO glorious) and that was one of our things on "To Do Before Baby" list. Want to know the others? Too bad, I am posting them anyway!

To Do Before Baby:
  • get a new car (its just a yucky process, don't have time)
  • paint office and bathroom (the office will be the baby's room)
  • get air conditioner (I would demand this even if I wasn't pregnant)
  • get a dresser-robe for Chad (because I have so many clothes and shoes, the Spouse has to use the other closet. Soon that will be in Baby's room so Chad gets the boot again...)
I think that is about it so far. I am SO positive that this list will expand, especially because I love making lists.

Alright, all done. Maybe I will set one day a week where I talk about pregnancy, baby, etc. That way you readers don't want to kill me :)

Happy Thursday!

The Sticks Explain It All

(Yes, I peed on those. And about 3 others just to be sure!)

Well, the news is out. I am just over 10 weeks pregnant. This explains a lot you see, I have been vacant from my blog for quite sometime because, quite frankly, I feel like crap. Though I am so excited and extremely grateful to be expecting, I will not lie that it takes it right out of you. But, supposedly, its worth it :)

So, obviously, that has been on my mind a great deal as of late and it was difficult because I couldn't blog about it because we wanted to wait until we felt good and pregnant (which we do). I am exhausted all the time, I get home from work and quite literally lay on the couch until its time for bed. I get really nauseous at night, however, never vomit (I have never been a vomity person). I can't take my allergy medication so that has been fun. I feel bloated and my pants are starting to get snug. Though I complain, both Chad and I are thrilled.

I had a dream the other night that it was a boy and he was super cute. Oh! Thats something else, my dreams have been OUT OF CONTROL. I dream about the most stressful stuff and the weirdest stuff. And they seem so real! Also, I could quite literally sleep 10 hours every night and still be ok to go to bed at 10 the next night. My skin has been going crazy, like I'm 16 and I have to pee all the time. Also, I don't love savory things, if I eat candy all day I feel great (however, I am avoiding this for obvious reasons).

It was incredible going to the doctor and seeing the heartbeat for the first time. It looked like a chubby gummy bear, which was charming, however I was well aware that "gummy bear" was making me ill. Sweet none the less.

There you have it. We are bringing another de Lisle to the world and are dang excited about it.

Happy Saturday!

Toe Nails, Shoes, and Good News

I finally painted my toes. They were horrible for weeks and I could't take it any longer. I dislike having bare toenails because I always have them painted and it just looks strange to me. I am glad that I got that taken care of.

Here is my shoe of the day! I checked to see if I had already posted these but I had not. They are some of my older shoes and one of my all time FAVORITE pair. I got them at Target probably 5 years ago and they are SO comfortable and incredibly wearable. I am generally not a huge fan of animal prints but feel that when they are done in small amounts can be fun. Behold.

Lastly, I found Caffeine FREE Diet Coke. Blessed day! I have missed the stuff so incredibly much and today, I had a moment at the Maverick when I saw it.

Happy Thursday!

P.S. Bobbie is making great strides and is feeling quite a bit better. She is still taking some meds from the Vet but is doing well.

Update, aka Pupdate

Here is a quick update for everyone on the pup situation (if you don't care then too bad). This may get a bit gruesome with details but if you really care, you will read it anyway.

After 7 hours of her being at the vet getting blood tests done and x-rays taken, she finally came home. Though the vet had fears of pancreatitis (which can kill a dog), urinary infection (which I thought was only a woman's problem, also deadly for dogs), or kidney stones (common in the mini schnauzer bread) the vet concluded that Bobbie is incredibly healthy and had none of those. Though this was amazing news, it was frustrating because he couldn't really peg the problem. He noticed a "fecal blockage" (which is odd because she poops regularly, I know you wanted to know that) so he helped take care of that with an enema. So, we brought her home with some meds for her sore belly but she was still not feeling great. Because of the enema, she had a leaky bum for a lot of the night which, would be uncomfortable for any person or animal. She is doing a bit better today and the vet is confident that she will make a full recovery.

Thanks for those who sent kind messages, I greatly appreciate your kindness and support!

Happy Tuesday!

Bad News Monday

Oye. Pup woke up sick today. Like, scary sick where she was moaning when she breathed. Which, for those who are familiar with dogs, is frightening because they don't show express pain unless its really bad. The spouse stayed home and took her to the vet while I had to go to work (because its only my 2nd week). He had to drop her off so they could do multiple tests and do x-rays. We don't even care about the money, we just want her better and at home. Please keep her in your thoughts, energies, or prayers!

Crappy Monday!

Reflective Saturday

Stayed up too late last night...which means tired, emotional, reflective-ness this morning. I have been gone for a while, yes its true. I have hit a bit of a wall with my blogging. Feeling much less motivated and almost feeling obligated to post something, just to say that I did. Hence, the absence. I am trying to show my blog who is boss :)

There is a lot going on in ye ol' life of the de Lisle's. Lots of exciting/good things but a lot of things just the same. I got a new job, actually I am still with the same company just in a different department and I LOVE it. A direct godsend for certain. I was so grateful for the opportunity that I had before but my new position is highly fitting for me. Plus, its a pay raise. Thank you Jesus! (not inappropriate because I really am thankful!)

I have also been reflecting on the fact that some people may never like you. Ever. And that's okay. My Abbyquela and I were discussing this late last night. I don't believe that I have learned this lesson completely but its one that I am really trying to grasp. Relationships may end and new ones begin and not all will end perfectly or on great terms. And that's okay. I have always had concerns about people speaking ill of me to others but ultimately, your peeps will give you the benefit of the doubt. (The word "relationships" is used in a generic way, not a romantic way. Chad and I are totally fine!)

My buddies at work.

Happy Saturday!

Eventful Weekend

Here is a quick post regarding my weekend thus far.
1. Allergies have been kicking my butt today, stuffy nose, itchy throat, the works. (Hence the fact you don't see me in any of these photos).

2. I got a new CAMERA!!!! I am SO excited. Chad and I haven't really had a nice camera since we have been married (thats right, nearly 4 years and we have very few pictures of our time together, sad.)

3. I also got some new shoes that I LOVE. I have been wanting to buy them for quite sometime but they were a bit to pricey for my liking. They were originally $90 and I got them on sale for $45. Thank you Amazon! (Photos taken with my new camera)

4. Lastly, we played DnD last night in a new location. We play at my in-laws house (how nerdy is that. Amazing, right?) because they have a big beautiful home that fits a large group of us nicely. We used to play on the main floor (images here) but the Spouse set up a pretty legit space in the basement (with the help from my Mother in-law). It was cool and private so we didn't get disturbed at all. Very awesome situation. (Photos taken with my new camera)

Brandon, Aj, and Steve
SOME of our books, excuse the explicit photo bomb from Aj. Love him.
One of my new dice. It didn't roll super well for me last night but its all good.
One of our battles. I killed a guy with my bow, where as Jon nearly sliced a man in half. Zach, tried really hard...he really did.

Enjoy the photos! Happy Sunday!

Snacks

Here is the food that I brought to work today. I was highly surprised by the fact that they were remotely healthy snacks. So surprised that I decided to take a pic and blog about it. Nothing is better than a PB&J sandwich on hearty whole wheat bread when you are super hungry. Fills you up just right!

What snacks do you take to work/eat daily? I run out of ideas SO quickly and find myself sick of the food I bring. Really, tell me you like to snack on because that PB&J will only be tasty for a short while and then I will hate it.

Happy Friday!

Spicy Breakfast Burritos

Last night, my honey did it again by making a banging dinner! Its a hash for a breakfast burrito and it was a total knock out. I am so glad my man can cook.
Potatoes, Onions, Serrano Peppers

Browning the spicy sausage with the other ingredients
Cooking tortillas
Potatoes, Onions, Peppers, Sausage, Egg, Cheese
Breakfast Burritos for dinner!

Super yummy and just the right amount of spicy (not too spicy where I have to take breaks between bites). Thanks Chad for the delicious meal!

Happy Friday!

Hippy Trippy Mama, Shoe of the Day!

Wanted to add a quick shoe of the day (its been too long!) I am actually wearing flip flops, which I rarely do unless I am on the beach or at the pool. However, I allow myself to wear these because, well, they are bedazzled and amazing. I have had them for several years, originally buying them at Nordstrom on some ridiculous sale. I feel like a hippy trippy mama when I put them on and they are outrageously comfy.

PLEASE pardon the chipped nail polish. Its gross, I know.

What are you summer go to shoes? Are they bedazzled flip flops?

Happy Thursday!

Day Off, Red Lips

Yesterday was our day off and it was so lovely. The Spouse and I did a date lunch (because we are like old people and like to eat early) so we went to Wingers at 12:00. I have been dying for their wings lately and I really enjoyed eating them. I have never been a big wings eater however, I cannot say no to their's.

I also tried wearing red lipstick, I have always liked how it looks but felt rather shy wearing it on my already prominent lips. I feared everyone would stare at them and not in a good way. However, I gathered my bearings and put it on and quite liked the result. It was strange to have something on my lips that I had to be careful with, we don't want to look like the joker with crazy smearing.

Chad said he liked the red lips and thats the most important opinion (other than my own, ha).

Happy Thursday!
