Do Work

So, this post is slightly embarrassing but I am putting it out there anyway. By the end of my pregnancy I was...huge. Especially the last 3 days before his arrival, I was swollen and achy all over. I didn't realize how large I was until I saw this picture.

So so large and exhausted.

Now, I will be first to admit that I look like a tank! This was right after I delivered the baby and had an IV with meds being pumped through my veins which I do believe caused a lot of my swelling. Also, some body trauma from delivering a baby didn't help. The reason I am showing this is to showcase the incredible nature of the human body. I wish I had pictures of my ankles after as well, they were so large. Like insanely large as if they should belong on a different body.

Here is my current state. I have been so pleasantly surprised with how quickly the swelling went away and how fast my face went back to normal. I was so swollen before that I felt like my nose had changed. Now I recognize myself when I look in the mirror.

This was the first time I was wearing makeup and wearing real clothes (not draw-string pants) in 4 weeks. I had to document it because it was a pretty big deal. This picture was literally taken today.

Now, you will notice that I am not showcasing my stomach. Let me just say that this little guy did work on my poor skin. Because he grew directly out of me, my stomach is riddled with purple scars. I had avoided stretch marks until about the last 3 weeks and then I lost the battle. Why am I sharing this? I don't know, maybe because I feel like admitting it will lead to acceptance which will make them fade sooner :) Wishful thinking? Possibly.

Lastly, I had to show this one. It cracked me up. It almost looks like I am punching him but do not be alarmed, I am just trying to hold his head up. Look at that face! Love him.

Happy Friday!
