Trends I WON'T Be Wearing

This post, as you can see in the title, is all about trends I WON'T be wearing this year. I want to preface this by saying that I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings and if these are things that you love than that's super. You do you, girl!

Let's not dibble dabble and get right into it.

The Choker:

With 90's fashion trends roaring back, I've noticed this trend popping up here and there and I immediately cringed. Why the chokers? Why? Not only am I not fond of how it looks but I have such a short neck that this would NEVER work on me. Two good reasons to not wear it, in my case.

Also, the choker is a little too Sabrina the Teenage Witch for me. Don't get me wrong, I loved the show as a child but don't plan on taking any style notes from her wardrobe.

The Medieval Lace Up:

Again, this is a 90's-early 2000's fashion trend that is coming back. I disliked it back then and dislike it now. My Dungeons & Dragons characters will be the only one wearing this medieval style. Hard Pass.

The Peep Shoulder Top:

This is a trend that has been around for a little bit, it's not brand new but still just as perplexing as ever. I don't even know where this statement came from but I wish it would return from whence it came. It's just BAD. I don't even understand it. Where is the rest of your shirt? Are you shoulders cold? Do you really like your shoulders? And I am not someone who thinks clothing needs to be entirely utilitarian and practical but it does need to look good. And this, simply, does not.

The Mesh Panel Work Out Pant:

Here is the thing, I shave my legs once a week (IF I AM LUCKY) so if I am wearing yoga PANTS/work out leggings it's likely because I have prickly hairs all over my legs. So if I have mesh paneling on my pants, that reveals what I am trying to hide. You feel me? Just the practicality of it doesn't make sense.

Also, I don't like the way they look. I feel like they are meant to be worn for acrobatic gymnastics. You know, the one where they are crazy flexible and use ribbons in their performance? Yeah, just seriously not my thing.

Wow, you go girl.

I am all about a yoga pant that is entirely opaque and that holds up my tush and holds in my stomach. That's what I am looking for when I work out.

The Blinged Out Nail:

Crazy nails have been all the craze for some time now and I am just not into it. #1) How do you get ANYTHING done with those? #2) I prefer simplicity and sleekness and #3) just WHY? Now I know that the pointer almond or stiletto styled nails are really in style and although I prefer my nails short and orderly, those styles can look nice if subtly painted because the shape in itself is a statement. But once you start adding crazy bright patterns and actual gems and plastic bows, that's when I get off the bus. I am just not into. I would rather save something with such a statement for my shoes, thank you very much. Now don't get me wrong, an interesting pattern that is clean, crisp, but also "classy" can be fun and quite lovely but again, simplicity is the way to go when it comes to nails. I am declaring it.

So, there you have it. Those are a few fashion trends that I am simply not in to. But here is the thing about fashion. You wear what YOU like. So if you are fond of any of these trends, by all means, rock them! Style is all about choice and self expression so don't let me stop you.

Happy Thursday!
